The department consists of himself and his new assistant Assad. Although they have explicit orders only read and review old cases, only spends a day before the stubborn nature of Carl's head take the mystery of the disappearance of Merete Lynggaard, a beautiful young political promise that disappeared five years ago in a ferry ride. The only witness in the case is the brother of the victim who suffered brain damage and was found on the platform screaming his lungs. The case was treated as an apparent suicide. But Carl and Assad are not convinced this explanation, and venture on a journey that will take them to discover the abuse and the evil that lurks beneath the surface of a refined Scandinavia.
