It is a good writer, so besides the prison governor granted privileges that saved the inhumane treatment inflicted on other inmates. Bill Porter is in prison. Although Porter is well aware of the brutality with others, avoids writing about prison life as would question their privileged position. To ease his conscience tries to comfort his fellow worst treated and, incidentally, to all readers with overly romantic fantasies which invariably trumps good.
