MOVIE SYNOPSIS: You can watch Le violon de Rothschild, full movie on FULLTV - Year 1938: Shostakovich encourages his pupil Fleischmann to write an opera based on Chekhov's story, " Rothschild's Fiddle ". Fleischmann is killed during the siege of Leningrad. Complete Shostakovich orchestration, but in 1948 they say it destroys the Opera, during Stalin's campaign against " rootless cosmopolitans ". The Jewish theme is introduced in Shostakovich's own work. The film includes a filmed version of the opera.
