MOVIE SYNOPSIS: You can watch In Search of Blind Joe Death: The Saga of John Fahey, full movie on FULLTV - John Fahey was born in 1939, bought his first guitar when he was 13 and learned to play on your own listening discs blues guitarists of the twenties and thirties. In a career spanning half a century, Fahey became a hugely influential figure in American music scene and created a very particular sound, known as the ' American Primitive ?. Inspiration for generations of musicians, his fan list includes names like Beck and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, as seen in the film, also Pete Townshend of The Who and Chris Funk of The Decemberists. The same Fahey was a captivating presence: he died in 2001 but reappears throughout this documentary in numerous interviews taken throughout his career, showing a modest and dry sense of humor. It is this feeling that perhaps contributes to so characteristic of his music sound: a hypnotic blend of beauty and sadness .. There is something strangely distinctive Fahey: at one point says that nobody really choose to be an artist, and suggests that their creative impulses control it to him and he controls them.
