Stach is a wayward teen who lives on the outskirts of Nazi-occupied Warsaw. Guided by small acts of defiance and communist fervor, goes into the resistance movement, where she meets the brave and beautiful Dorota. He is soon involved in a risky fight against oppression and the quest for dignity, maturing as he assumes responsibility for the lives of his friends and colleagues.
