The young Gabriel Araceli typesetter working on a small printing shop in Madrid. His girlfriend Inés is an orphan girl who incidentally lives in Aranjuez home of his uncle, the monk Don Celestino Santos of Malvar. With opportunity of a visit to his girlfriend, Gabriel has witnessed the mutiny of Aranjuez against Godoy ), whose palace is assaulted by the mob, handled by the nobility Ferdinand.
