Professor Fernando Cortés after losing his entire family and overwhelmed by despair tries to end his life at the feet of a dry Laja. Wounded is rescued by a family of survivors and served inside a devastated village formerly inhabited, while the Chilean Army soldiers have already begun finding more survivors, led by Captain Roberto Figueroa, son of Professor Cortés.
