According to Roger of Wendower, XIII century chronicler, Godiva begged her husband to reduce the taxes that overwhelmed the people of Coventry. The Count agreed, however, with the condition that his wife naked traverse the streets of the town, which she did covering only her long hair. It also has the population, out of respect for her, locked in their homes to avoid her. Only saw a indiscreet which has since been called Peeping Tom, Tom the Voyeur.
