MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1929 film?

You can watch Novyy Vavilon, full movie on FULLTV - In 1870, at the height of the Franco - Prussian war development resulted in Prussian troops advance upon Paris. With the imminent invasion of Paris, the French government was quick to call a truce, which soon led to total capitulation. The proud French people, embarrassed by the pusillanimous reaction of the government, won enraged. The government substitute, the Commune lasted less than two months in power, and their leaders were promptly shot. With these facts as a reference, Russian filmmakers Grigori Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg conceived a film in which he followed a fairly common procedure: the narrating an event of historic significance by the vision of individual characters. In the case of Kozintsev and Trauberg film, the main character is Louise Poirier, a store clerk Parisian that gives its name to the film, The New Babylon. It is through the eyes and perceptions of Louise that filmmakers tell this chronicle, which is both a presentation of facts and take a stand against them. In this case, this position is clearly rooted in the class struggle.
