Adapt the play by George Dibdin -Pitt in 1847 to the glory of divo Tod Slaughter, who represented the character for over four thousand performances and is a good example of purely British fear the 30s of XX century. In 1979 the legend would be converted into a sinister and memorable musical by Stephen Sondheim, based in turn on a previous work by Christopher Bond 1973. A remake called Sweeney Todd (2006) was made based on this movie.
