MOVIE SYNOPSIS - Where can I watch it and what's the story of this 1957 film?

You can watch Tikhiy Don, full movie on FULLTV - The film portrays, following Mikhail Sholokhov's novel, the destinies of the Don Cossacks during the First World War and the Civil War in the Russian Empire. Grigory Melejov lives in a village of Veshenskaya. This Aksynia love, but because of the insistence of his father, has to marry another girl. Upon discovering his affair with Aksynia, his teenage wife leaves him. Shortly before the war, Grigory and his beloved also leave the farm. While on the Austrian front, Grigory learns of the Czar had abdicated and the war is over. He sets out to return home where he is waiting Aksynia. There are two versions: the original Soviet six hours and a cut to the U.S. of just 107 minutes.
